I might live to God

Gal 2:19-20 For I through law have died to law that I might live to God.I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

The Spirit of holiness as the resurrected power of God

Rom. 1:3-4 Concerning His Son, who came out of the seed of David according to the flesh, who was designated the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness out of the resurrection of the dead , Jesus Christ our Lord. When I read this verse, the phrase "the Spirit of holiness" caught my eye. As a son of men, Jesus is the seed of David; yet as a son of God, Jesus was designed in power according to the Spirit of holiness out of the resurrection of the dead .  It is not too difficult to relate "power" to the resurrection of the dead because indeed, in order for the dead to be resurrected, there needs to be a kind of power. However, I found it refreshing that the Spirit of holiness is related to power as well.  I kinda had this idea that holiness is a status, and of course, as a Christian, it is also a process in which God has been making us holy day by day with the infusion of His life and nature. But can you imagine that holiness also gives us this power o...

Thus, the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed

Acts 19:20 Thus, the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

The received the word with all eagerness

Acts 17:10-12  "And the brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away during the night to Berea, who, when they arrived, went off into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these people were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, and there were not a few Greek women of high standing and men."

Singing praise to God (2)

Once I was bound by sin’s galling fetters很有感覺。

Singing praise to God (1)

Act 15:25 And about midnight Paul and Silas, while praying, sang hymns of praise to God; and the prisoners were listening to them.

Happy 21st birthday (spiritually)

So, on this day last year, you travelled to Belgium to get yourself ready for the bridegroom. And one year later, you are still learning how to be a proper wife in God's economy.  Keep learning sis, keep your faith in Him. Even though things might not be always easy. Keep moving forward.  Happy 21st birthday! May the Lord enrich your life with Himself.  Finish your PhD, and be happy. Most important of all, just enjoy the process of whatever you do.

Stop (for the sake of the Lord)

I have been catching up with some reading this morning. Funny enough, I think this passage that I read from the morning revival concerning David's desire to build a temple for God might have answered some of my questions concerning marriage life.  The background concerning this reading is that I really don't know what to do with my husband. I take up the housework willingly and cook two meals a day for my husband. hundreds of meals have been cooked during our 1st year of marriage. However, my husband is still grumpy (!?) and it seems that whatever I do can offend him. He even asked me not to cook for him anymore (!?) so I've been feeling quite confused. (It is not related to my cooking skills though). I also read and listen to the biblical teaching concerning marriage and attend gatherings that teach me to be a proper wife in a marriage.  However, even though I have been applying these principles, my husband is still not happy. The following passages seem to indicate I shal...

Cleasing their hearts by faith

Acts 15:8-9 And God, the Knower of hearts, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit even as also to us; And He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

For whom the Lord loves He disciplines

Hebrews 12:4-7 You have not yet resisted unto blood, struggling against sin, And you have completely forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, “ My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when reproved by Him ; For whom the Lord loves He disciplines , and He scourges every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons . For what son is there whom the father does not discipline? In order for the Lord to work His divine characters into us, there is a need for us to be disciplined. This does not sound like a pleasant word for Christians in general, but for those who are experiencing the discipline of the Lord, it is a comfort because regardless, we are in the hand of the Lord!  We all want to be conformed to the image of His son. But seriously, this desire can only be accomplished when we submit to the environment that the Lord has given us, remain there, and learn to take the cross.  Whe...

You have delivered me from the lowest Sheol

Psalms 86:13  For Your lovingkindness is great toward me, / And You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.   The Lord's loving kindness is abundant to us. In the midst of distress, we need to acknowledge a couple of things that enable us to go on in Him.  First , He is gracious to us and thus regardless of what kind of situation we are in, He is near and willing to uphold us. Even if our soul is down to the lowest Sheol where despair and lies dwell. There, we can find His promise for us - His presence, peace, and hope.  Second , after acknowledging His lovingkindness never fails, what else can we do? We continue to do what we have to do with a single heart fearing the Lord.  Psalms 86:11-12 Teach me, O Jehovah, Your way; / I will walk in Your truth. / Make my heart single in fearing Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart; / And I will glorify Your name forever. What we need to do doesn't change. We cling to God to learn His way and...

In the Valley of Baca

Psalm 84:6-7  Passing through the valley of Baca, / They make it a spring; / Indeed the early rain covers it with blessings. They go from strength to strength; / Each appears before God in Zion. I think married life is indeed difficult. Sometimes things seem to get better for a while. I thought it was because I followed the Biblical principle. However, my husband is not one of the common kinds, and many times I am indeed very frustrated by his peculiarity.  With tears, I come to Thee, confessing that nothing that I can do to save my marriage as well as my PhD final stage. The pain in my heart dwells and got worse. I hide my tears before my husband but when he's away, tears fall down like streams of water. I found it difficult to make sense of what I can do now. To be honest, Lord, I want to give up my trying.  I tried to make the food my husband likes. I tried to speak well of him between us and before others. I tried to initiate intimacy with him. I tried to make the hou...

A new beginning, and my God is sovereign

New Beginnings  The Lord has given us each day, each month, each season and each year as a new beginning. To me, our Creator God has provided all these "new beginnings" to give us a new reminder: We can hope because we are given new beginnings all the time.  Yesterday we visited the commune and to be honest, it was annoying to have to explain the documents in detail once again, and we have been doing a lot of the work in explanation to justify our documents requested by the government throughout the entire year. It was frustrating, and when I finally got home and had time to work on my thesis, the triggered emotions disabled me to do what I need to do. My mind was racing. I tried to take a break, and when I got back to work, my mind was racing again. To me, a pitiful human being, when something was not going so well, I felt the entire day was ruined. However, I forgot that my Lord is giving us so many new beginnings so we can always start afresh. Things that went wrong in the...
