For whom the Lord loves He disciplines

Hebrews 12:4-7

You have not yet resisted unto blood, struggling against sin, And you have completely forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when reproved by Him; For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons. For what son is there whom the father does not discipline?

In order for the Lord to work His divine characters into us, there is a need for us to be disciplined. This does not sound like a pleasant word for Christians in general, but for those who are experiencing the discipline of the Lord, it is a comfort because regardless, we are in the hand of the Lord!

We all want to be conformed to the image of His son. But seriously, this desire can only be accomplished when we submit to the environment that the Lord has given us, remain there, and learn to take the cross.

When I read about the interaction between Saul and David in the morning revival this morning, the Lord constantly reminds me that "it is my responsibility to remain on the cross". My submission to God's ordained authority is not even me submitting to that "person", but intrinsically, I am honouring the Lord by submitting myself to Himself.

This is a divine perspective that we should receive. Nowadays, we live in an age of rebellion. We overturn whoever that we consider terrible. However, if we acknowledge that during bad times, the Lord is still on the throne, then we will be able to submit to the environment. This is not being passive, but instead, the Lord gain proactive cooperation in us! He is God, and we often forget about it. The Lord can absolutely overturn a situation when He likes. If He does not do it NOW, He is still God. We need to rest in Him.

Our attitude:

We do not have to plan anything but simply trust ourselves in the Lord. Every day, may the Lord gain us to enjoy Him in the midst of all situations. In the end, who can endure the suffering and bear the cross? Only the Lord Himself can! May we invite the Spirit to come and nourish us daily in the midst of our situations! Praise the Lord! Praise Him for His wise arrangement! Praise Him that the environment is from His wise arrangement! Praise Him the only responsibility for us is to enjoy Christ and find rest in Him so we can dwell peacefully where we are under His sovereignty. We do not want to be an example of rebellion but an example of submission! Praise Him, Praise Him, and Praise Him!
